June 15th - June 21st - practicebicycle.com - Tour de Suisse 2009 practicebicycle.com is offering a wonderful week of cycling in two countries with spectacular riding in both France and Switzerland. You will see some of the best professional bike riders in the world in their final preparation race for this year's Tour de France, with "practicebicycle.com - Tour de Suisse". The fourth major bike race in the Pro Tour behind the Grand Tours of France, Italy and Spain, the Tour de Suisse is held every year in June. This year will be the 73rd edition of this National Tour. In 2008 a surprising winner emerged ahead of many of the big Tour riders in Roman Kreuziger, the rider from the Czech Republic. In the past many of the great names of cycling have won this prestigious event including Jan Ullrich, Alex Zulle, Lance Armstrong, Phil Anderson and Sean Kelly.
This exciting week of cycling begins with three wonderful days in Annecy, this beautiful town is nestled on the edge of Lake Annecy and offers spectacular views as you enjoy the pleasures of Cycling in the French Alps. We then travel the short distance to Geneva and cross the border into Switzerland for the second part of your week to be a part of the action whilst we ride and view stage's of the Tour de Suisse and admire the breathtaking scenery and enjoy the atmosphere that Switzerland is famous for. There is a distinctive difference between these two great cultures, the most obvious being how pristine Switzerland appears. It's famous for its green pastures, the unusual wildflowers only seen in the Swiss high mountains, not to mention some of the most hospitable and polite people you will ever meet! This pro tour event is one of our favourites, with impeccable organisation and the opportunity to get close to the riders in a relaxed environment in the start village. What a perfect opportunity to get that cherished photograph or autograph with your favourite team or rider, it's amazing how amicable and professional these guys are at such an important event as the Tour de Suisse. You may even get to meet champion cyclists of the past like Alex Zulle or other famous retired Swiss professional stars at a VIP lunch or dinner opportunity. practicebicycle.com pride ourselves on giving our guests the perfect balance of riding as much or as little as you wish with time to rest and relax amongst the beautiful Swiss villages stopping to sample a Bacakri (Swiss coffee and cake experience) and peruse the intriguing shops. There will be plenty of time to sample a few of Switzerland's traditional dishes including the ever famous Birchermuesli, the most delicious breakfast food and the perfect start to your day. On an evening look forward to the delights of "Zurigschnatzlets" thin strips of veal and mushrooms in a creme sauce served with Rosti (a grated potato speciality) accompanied by a fantastic glass of Swiss white wine "Mont-Sur-Rolle" from the Martigny area in the Canton of Valais at the crossroads of Italy, France and Switzerland. Not forgetting to save a little space for something sweet, the delectable chocolate Fondue for desert.
